ORLANDO -- Drivers on Interstate 4 got an eyeful Thursday as a truck caravan made its way down the highway with pictures of aborted fetuses plastered all over them.
If the images are disgusting to you, then the pro-life group behind the pictures said that the campaign is a success.
The Center for Bio-ethical Reform plans on spreading its message across the United States and is hitting Florida this week with the roving billboards that are designed to make people stop, look and choose sides.
Pro-life advocate Mark Harrington said that the campaign is even more important in light of recent advances in stem cell research.
The organization said that it tries to stay on the main roadways like I-4 during rush hour in an effort to create the biggest impact and avoid being seen by a lot of children. But some adults said that, even for them, the depiction of bloodied embryos and fetuses is still a bit much.
Tammy Sobieski, from Woman Care Centers of Florida said that the graphic nature of the moving billboard is more of a turn off than a deterrent to women considering having an abortion. She said that several women who came in for an abortion mentioned seeing the trucks, but it didn't stop them from having the procedure.
The caravan of two trucks travels with heavy security because the drivers are concerned about their safety inside the controversial mobile billboards. But the drivers said that getting their message across is worth the risk.
Sobieski said that their money would be better spent helping women with unplanned pregnancies.
